Amazon sales rating confusion
I suddenly have an Amazon sales rating. Of course Amazon has nothing on the site to explain what the sales rating means. Fictionwise tracks ebook sales based on actual number of sales over a period of time. Sell more books, move to the top of the list. Check your position on the list and you know whether or not the books are selling. But not Amazon. Amazon sales rating system was apparently designed to bring back nightmares from college level math class. Another author with HSWF provided links to articles on understanding Amazon. Sales ratings are constantly calculated and based on the number of books sold and the frequency of sales. So sell even a few books but very quickly and ratings go up - at least for that moment. Because when sales go down, the rating drops. So after reading the articles, I figured out I’ve sold a handful of books through Amazon. But part of me is still amazed just to have an Amazon sales rating.
