New Book Review

"Tea and Witchery" has been reviewed on Absolute Write.   It's nerve wracking to read a review once the book is published.  Oh, sure, while trying to get published, I got lots of feedback about the book.  Mostly encouraging, but back then if someone did point out a problem, I could fix it before sending the book out again.  But once the book is published, there's no way to fix it.  Fortunately the review was positive.

Though I did laugh at the description of Patrick as the young Tarot card king.  King?  Patrick?  That sounds far too grown up and responsible for Patrick, the young gay psychic.  But overall about the book -

"Tea and Witchery is a little mystery that’s big on character.  It does a fine job of walking the difficult line between taking itself too seriously and mocking itself, and delivers something fresh and fun."

I like that.

Amazon sales rating confusion

I suddenly have an Amazon sales rating.  Of course Amazon has nothing on the site to explain what the sales rating means.  Fictionwise tracks ebook sales based on actual number of sales over a period of time.  Sell more books, move to the top of the list.  Check your position on the list and you know whether or not the books are selling.  But not Amazon.  Amazon sales rating system was apparently designed to bring back nightmares from college level math class.  Another author with HSWF provided links to articles on understanding Amazon.  Sales ratings are constantly calculated and based on the number of books sold and the frequency of sales.  So sell even a few books but very quickly and ratings go up - at least for that moment.  Because when sales go down, the rating drops.  So after reading the articles, I figured out I've sold a handful of books through Amazon.  But part of me is still amazed just to have an Amazon sales rating.

Witches Do It On Top

Okay, I've been bumped off the #1 mystery spot in Fictionwise by "The Witch of Watergate."  So witches are hot on Fictionwise right now.  I've got the contract for "Love is Blond."   Making very little money so far but having fun.
